Holiday Card Exchange and Skype

One of the most interesting library projects this year has been our Holiday Card Exchange. All six of our second grade classes created cards in art class. They then added information about our school to the cards and put the cards in envelopes in the library. Last, all cards were addressed and mailed. Since that time, MHP has received hundreds of cards in the mail. Several classes have bulletin board displays of their cards. What a thrill it has been to receive cards from Australia, Italy, Canada, and all over the USA. I highly recommend Projects By Jen for terrific classroom connections. From our card exchange came another first for MHP. We added Skype and a camera to the main lab computer last week. Today Mrs. Kretsch's class had a chance to Skype with a first grade class in Wisconsin. The kids are seeing all kinds of possibilities for this technology.
